The Wright Flight

by Robbie Burkett

The Wright brothers have done it! Orville and Wilbur have made the first successful flight in human history.  On December 17, 1903, the Wright brother made several attempts of leaving the ground in their “Flyer” from Kitty Hawk, S. C.  With freezing headwind gusting to 27 miles per hour, it sure was a frigid flight.  The brothers flew a distance of several hundred feet with heights above 10 feet above the ground.  The day has ended in a sad note though due to the Flyer being blown over and being severally damaged.  After years of working on gliders, this was a big day for the Brothers and will be definitely something they, and the many witness, never forget.

After Effects tutorial: Animate an indie graphic novel

http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/tutorials/after-effects/animate-indie-graphic-novel/

This focuses on the creation of The Art of Pho motion comic.  I really enjoyed the art of the comic and would like to do something similar to its style. The page discusses how they turned the original comic into a motion comic for digital media using several programs.

The original comic had a very interesting, simple style that I thought was really well done and I think that this helped it to be turned into a digital comic.

This was a great video that also talks about the creation of the interactive comic from the original.  In this video, part of the staff actually shows you the process of the which is useful to see.  The best part about this video is not only does it give you some insight of the process itself but you also get to hear from the author, Julian Hanshaw, about his process and experience which is great.

Statement of Intent

For my Capstone Project, I am planning to create a Digital, animated comic.   The comic will be focused around a Dung Beetle named Doug.
