My cartoon will be an extension and
expansion of an attempted graphic novel that I have planned out and
storyboarded. The cartoon will be
focused around Doug, a mild mannered dung beetle, and his journey to replace
and rebuild his home. The overall idea
that I would like to convey through my cartoon is the idea of using
constructive criticism and ignoring useless insults.

I will be producing this animated
video using several different programs.
I plan on creating the graphic component of the video using the program
Anime Studio. I have taught myself the basics
of this program in conjunction with an animation class that I had taken the
previous semester. I would like to dive
even deeper into the program and learn even more of what it has to offer. I also may utilize Adobe Edge, though I am
going to look into it more as part of my research to see if will work with my
plans.
Along with graphic work that I am going
to put into this, I plan to incorporate sound because I have no desire for this
to be a silent film.
My plan is to use Garage Band, Sound Booth and Audition to generate background music and voices for my video. I have taken the sound design class and have learned the basic of the creation and the manipulation of sound; though I don’t plan on pursuing sound design as a future, I think that it will be good to show that I know how to use it which can leave my options open for the future.

Finally, the content of my story
has come about of the lessons that I have learned throughout my life and
school. I would love convey to other the
lessons I have learned about dealing with criticism in the hope that I will
help others to improve their lives.
